Seven Things Your Competitors Know About Computers

The software industry includes businesses engaged in development , maintenance and publication of software The industry also includes software services , such as training , documentation , and consulting.

Communications protocols define the rules and data formats for exchanging information in a computer network, and provide the basis for network programming Well-known communications protocols are Ethernet , a hardware and Link Layer standard that is ubiquitous in local area networks , and the Internet Protocol Suite , which defines a set of protocols for internetworking, i.e. for data communication between multiple networks, as well as host-to-host data transfer, and application-specific data transmission formats. Computer software or just “software”, is a collection of computer programs and related data that provides the instructions for telling a computer what to do and how to do it. Software refers to one or more computer programs and data held in the storage of the computer for some purposes. The field of computing includes computer engineering , software engineering , computer science , information systems , and information technology.

The Software and Web Development emphasis combines the logical with the creative by teaching algorithm development, programming in various computer languages, web page and web site design, and more, employing best practices and state-of-the-art techniques. We have redesigned our Computer Technology programs to prepare students even better for today’s high-tech jobs. You will be taught by industry experts, in small classes, skills in hardware and software, electronics and networking, plus a variety of systems.

Graduates of Humber’s 3-year Computer Engineering Technology program will be granted ten (10) credits towards a 4-year Bachelor of Science Honours degree program in one of: This Certificate Program will provide state-of-the-art capability in using computers, offering marketable programming skills and in-depth understanding and manipulation of hardware. This course will give you the ability to specify requirements, design systems and commission and test computer and network technologies – sought after skills in today’s technology-driven job market.

The knowledge and skills required to specify requirements, design systems using standard subsystems, and commission and test computer and network technologies are paramount in today’s job market. Industries using network design and management, distributed systems, network maintenance and data communication techniques all require the skills you’ll develop on this course. To develop an ability among the students to understand and apply technical know-how so as to design, analyze, and develop novel software systems/products to provide solutions to the real life problems.

This degree teaches students key skills used by network engineers, systems administrators, and web developers. Our program of study helps you build a strong foundation in the concepts, theories, and practices of information technology, including the design, implementation, and administration of secured systems and networks. The program develops knowledgeable and skilled technicians who implement electronic designs and perform tasks such as collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various electronic systems.

The computer labs feature up-to-date equipment that is configured to allow students to perform a variety of programming and networking exercises such as configuring a domain controller, network security, routing or setting up a Web server. The WVC Computer Technology department offers training programs for computerĀ support technicians, security specialists, network administrators and network engineers. The aim of the Master in Applied Computer Technologies Financial Sector is to provide students with the necessary skills to participate in the development of software oriented to financial markets.

The Master of Computing Technology is designed to add to your current knowledge and skills and relate to the needs of your profession or industry. After finishing a Master in Computer Technology, graduates have many career options available to them in the technology industry designing and testing new computer information systems. The principle objective of the CTEC Database Development and Administration track is to provide students with Database Administration, Design, Development concepts as well as hands-on experience using Oracle and Microsoft Access.

Graduates of the Computer Technology program are prepared for careers as field technicians specializing in microcomputer repair and network diagnosis. IT professionals should enjoy installing computer systems, using software and maintaining networks and databases, while computer scientists should enjoy mathematics and software design. For example, information security requires knowledge of discrete math and algorithms, and database administration requires knowledge of programming.

IT professionals typically work in a business environment installing internal networks and computer systems and perhaps programming. With your creative problem-solving skills, you can excel through any of the Springfield College computer technology programs. Courses included in this option provide experiences in computer components, networking systems, networking installation and troubleshooting, and in operating systems software packages.

The Computer Engineering Technology program (CNT) is dedicated to producing job ready graduates that are skilled in software development, digital/analog device interfacing, and digital/analog electronics. This is an individual whose primary occupation is the design and/or integration, installation and field maintenance/service of: cabling infrastructure and products that transport low voltage voice, video, audio, data signals, and computer or telephone networks in a commercial or residential premises; products that capture and display or otherwise annunciate signals; products that control signals; and products that use signals to control mechanical and electrical apparatus. This program is designed to prepare students to work as Electronic Systems Technicians (DOT Code: 823.261-901, ONET Code: 49-2022.03).

All of the courses for the one-year certificate are applicable to the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics/Computer Technology. This one-year program provides the student with the basic skills needed in the electronic industry. Second year students will further their knowledge and work with electronics systems, PCs and PC networks.

Additionally, the program is designed to offer Microsoft or other industry-recognized certification in specific areas of study within the degree program. The diploma program introduces students to various aspects of the computer field and can be used as a goal or as an interim step in obtaining the AAS degree. Finally, full-time employees of some corporations may be eligible for tuition reimbursement programs, which allow them to earn their computer and information technology degrees on their employer’s dime.
